On 13 January 2021, Joanne (Anne) Cameron (née Innis) age 94, of La Mesa, California, passed peacefully from this world to be with her Lord. She is survived by six children, their spouses, six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Anne was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on 17 December 1926 to Carl and Katheryn Innis. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis where she served as class treasurer and was a feature writer for the school’s weekly magazine. She studied journalism at the Indiana University. Anne married James L Cameron Jr on 4 September 1949, they shared 69 years as husband and wife.

Marrying a career fighter pilot required frequent moves and constant change. Regardless of the challenges of living at nine different Air Force bases across North America while raising seven children, Anne modeled remarkable perseverance as she provided a nurturing home for her family.
An artist and servant at heart, Anne often volunteered her talents as a lay-out artist to clubs, schools and churches. Most remembered by her family is the way she brought her eye for beauty into her relationships and our home, from perfectly folded bath towels to artistically displayed keepsakes. Anne (our Mumps) possessed the unique ability of making people feel special. From her homemade meals, when family and guests gathered at the table carefully set with a fresh cut rose floating in a crystal bowl centerpiece, to her extraordinary wrapping of birthday and Christmas gifts, she expressed how much she valued each person.

The Cameron family retired from the Air Force to settle in the San Diego area in 1969. There, they contributed their time and energy to their community, their church, Trinity Presbyterian Church, and to the Gideons International.
Mumps brought kindness to both friends and strangers. Even in her illness, her wit and ready smile lit up a room to the delight of those around her. As her family, we are grateful to have been blessed by such a mother who modeled perseverance and individual love. Indeed, she was an excellent woman (Proverbs 31) whose life and memory continues to enrich us. The fragrance of her love will always linger in our hearts.
A private memorial is planned.
