Obituary

LARKIN, Ellsworth ‘Larry’ 1927-2019.

Larry was a kind loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He passed away on October 24th 2019 at the age of 91. He was born in Queens, New York on November 16th 1927, to Ellsworth and Theresa Larkin. Larry was raised in Queens and met his wife Virginia in Mastic Beach Long Island; They were married on November 21st 1948. Their love was true and they were soul mates for 63 years. Larry and Ginny moved their family to Lincoln Park, New Jersey in 1964. He was a true friend to many, a mechanical Wiz and was always there to help a friend in need. He came to California in 1983 and settled in Lakeside. Larry was a giving sole, always having time to help others where and when he could throughout his life serving his neighbors and communities both in New Jersey and California. Here in San Diego, he and his wife joined the AACA and The Early Ford V-8 Car Clubs; they loved their antique cars. Larry served the clubs and it’s members throughout the years helping to guide, manage and enhance the clubs activities. They were also involved in boating throughout their lives and were members of the Silver Gate Yacht Club in San Diego where they actively supported events as the Wheelchair Regatta for the disabled and many other programs to help the local community for over fifteen years. Larry is survived by his three children, Joanne Salzman, Wayne Larkin and Keith Larkin; Eight grandchildren, Larry, Rebecca, Brian, Kevin, Kyle, Megan, Maggie and Jake; Six great-grandchildren; Devlin, Mylene, Felix, Oliver, Penelope and Alice - all of whom were the pride and joy of his life. We will all miss him greatly.
