On Thursday, September 10th, 2020, Elizabeth (Beth) Alice Rowe, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, transitioned to heaven at the age of 80. Beth was born on November 24, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY to Herb and Virginia Berry. She grew up in Long Island, New York and after graduation attended St. John's University in New York for three years and also taught third grade at a parochial school. She and her husband, Gary Lee Rowe Sr., met on a blind date at a party in Great Neck, New York. They were engaged shortly thereafter and married on June 16th, 1962. Gary joined the Coast Guard and together they built a life of adventure and love; doing five cross country moves and raising their children, Gary Jr., Christine, and Keith.

Beth cared passionately about her family; she was a great wife, sister, mother, and grand/great grandparent and aunt. She loved reading romance novels and was an avid collector of all things antique, particularly old bottles, furniture, and quilts/coverlets. She was an avid sports fan with her greatest loves being reserved for the SF 49ers (she and her husband had season tickets), the Golden State Warriors, and the Oakland A’s. If you had the pleasure of watching a game with her, you quickly realized how invested she was in the outcome of the game, as she was quite vocal in both her cheering and her boos. She loved to watch her sons play sports and never missed a game or a school event for any of her children. She was a devoted housewife and when her kids became teens, she also did book reviews for Affair De Coire magazine and publicity for romance authors including Jill Barnett and Dorothy Garlock who became dear friends.

Her greatest traits were the incredible kindness, unconditional love, and support she displayed to her family and friends during both good and bad times. She had a surprisingly great sense of humor despite her natural reserve, as well as could fix an appliance with the best of them when her husband was out of the country. She was an incredible baker, seamstress and a great trainer of the family dogs.

Beth will be greatly missed, but we know she is with Jesus now. She is survived by her husband Gary, three children, Gary (Rhonda), Christine (Ken Hughes), Keith (Stephanie), nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, older brother Herb, and younger brothers John and Edward. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her older brother Ernest and numerous niece and nephews.. She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in the Bay Area. A celebration of life will be planned and announced when it is safe to do so.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, 1005 N. Glebe Road, Suite 220, Arlington, VA 22201, and/or American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
