Life Story for Bradley Bertrand

Bradley Bertrand
Bradley Ronald Bertrand, 58, of Carlsbad CA. entered into eternal rest on November 19, 2019.

An Army Veteran of Desert Shield Desert Storm Bradley proudly served our country for 18 years. Stories from his service often mentioned the highlight of his military career, as logging the most hours as an enlisted serviceman in the position of a “Front Seatter” as an Aviator on AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Exceptionally meritorious service while serving as: AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter Platoon Sergeant, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, and 2nd Armored Division during the period October 1990 to April 1991. Sergeant Bertrand’s significant accomplishments contributed greatly to the outstanding success of the First Cavalry Division during Operations Desert Shield and Desert storm in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait. His actions brought distinct credit upon himself, the First Cavalry Division and the United States Army.

Bradley’s decision to leave the Army was based on his greatest legacy and pride, his two sons with then wife Cindy. Nicholas and Joshua were entering into High School, and he thought it best to be there for each and every step as they navigated their way throughout this significant time. Brad’s devotion and unconditional love was suffused into these two young men, guiding them with strength and determination to be the best versions of themselves.

Recently Bradley saw the fulfillment of his dream when his son Nicholas happily married Jessica Bertrand in 2016.

Another moment of pride was when Bradley partnered together with his son Joshua to form an entrepreneurial Graphics Company “Fatty Grafx.” This company specialized in promoting Joshua’s professional RC Car racing, while providing vibrant and artistic graphic design within the remote control (RC-Car) industries.

In 2014 Brad was able to find “Magic”, love, and happiness again by meeting his current wife Cari Bertrand and her son Michael. He spent the remaining happy years of this life tent camping in the Western Untied States: sailing in Mission Bay San Diego on his 19 ft. “Yacht”, wine tasting, cooking, and enjoying his Boxers while living at the Beach.

Bradley is survived by his wife Cari, son’s Nicholas and Joshua, stepson Michael Johnson, parents Ron and Vicky Bertrand, sisters Tracy Sullivan and Chris Nichols.

Bradley will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery December 5, 2019 at 2:00pm. A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00pm at his home in Carlsbad CA.
His family has requested donations in his name in lieu of flowers to his two favored charities: Same You at sameyou.org or the Medicine Horse Project at medicinehorseproject.org
