Obituary for William Frye Jr

William (Bill) R. Frye Jr., 62 years old from Descanso, CA, was a fun-loving man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends whenever he had the chance and could always make the whole room light up with laughter. He also loved traveling and experiencing new places, cultures, and foods. Wherever he was, he had the heart to help and serve others and was always a generous and giving person.

He is survived by his children, Jame’ D. Wilkinson & William R. Frye III. His granddaughter, Zoe Wilkinson. His siblings, Dona Hull, Carol Frye, Ann La Salle, Linda Russell, James Frye, & Mary Sandlin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William R. Frye Sr. & Rose Frye. He is also preceded in death by his former wife and best friend of 30 years, Lynell D. Frye.

He grew up in a Navy family that traveled the world during his childhood as they were stationed at various places. After this, his family laid down roots in San Diego and he went on to graduate from Saint Augustine High School in San Diego, CA. He then worked locally in San Diego for Buck Knives before entering the RV industry. He worked with multiple RV dealerships as a technician before taking a leap and starting his own business about 30 years ago. He had the tenacity required to constantly work hard and build a business from the ground up. He grew in his communication skills throughout this time and served the San Diego community faithfully as a preferred vendor for mobile RV service county-wide. If anything was wrong, mechanically or functionally, he could fix it. Many people called him their “common day MacGyver” and he reveled in the fact that he could solve any problem, even if there were spare parts left over afterward when there shouldn’t have been!

He passed away around 10:30 A.M. on July 14, 2021, at his home in Descanso. While unexpected, it was peaceful and natural. There is great hope found in the fact that Bill, while he was yet a sinner, chose to surrender his life to Christ and live for Him. Because of this his family and friends saw evident change in him throughout recent years. As the Bible states in Romans 10:9-10 (NAB): “for, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.”. Praise the Lord that Bill believed, confessed, and thus was saved!

The family is planning a funeral mass at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church located at 9136 Riverside Dr, Descanso, CA 91916 on August 7, 2021, at 10 A.M. Following the mass, the burial will take place at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley located at 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121 at 1 P.M. Immediately following the burial, there will be a reception at South Bay Community Church located at 2400 Euclid Ave, National City, CA 91950. There will be food provided at the reception and the family would love it if you could think of stories to share with them at this event!
