Life Story for William Berg

William Irving Berg was born in South Gate, CA on August 5, 1929 to Doris
and Harry Berg, joining his older brother Mervin. He remembered memories
of his childhood raising rabbits and also once being on the Quiz Kids radio
program. He started working when he was 14 years old, and then entered the
Navy at a young age. His keen eye for detail landed him as a photographer in
the Navy, which is a passion he continued with throughout his lifetime. After
the Navy, he met the love of his life Barbara on a blind date, and they were
married in 1952. Bill and Babs welcomed their first child, Patty a few years
later. His work led him to the Rexall company, which gave him the opportunity
to move to San Diego. In their new home they had their second child, Lindee.
Bill worked over 30 years as a store manager for various stores, and later
worked on the other side of the counter for over 30 years as a salesman to the
same stores. Bill worked long and hard to provide for the family and kept
smiles on everyone’s faces.

Over the years, the family shared many laughs and fun, and some of the best
memories were of the family trips. There was always humor surrounding him.
He loved to joke, and always was willing to laugh at himself. His greatest joy
came from family, friends, and the fellowship of the church.

After working continuously for 72 years, Bill retired in 2016 at the age of 86.
Bill and Barbara recently celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary in June.

Bill is known for his smile, positive attitude, compassion, and for always
wanting to make a positive impact. He has infused in us how to live with
gratitude and a passion for life.

Bill is survived by his wife Barbara; daughters and spouses: Patty and Dennis,
Lindee and John; and grandchildren and spouses: Dena and Jason, Cameron
and Amanda.
