Tommy Lee Webb, age 77, passed away at his residence in Descanso California. He was the son of Tom Eston Webb, and Violet Mai (Tedder) Webb. Tom Eston, after divorce, married Lois Jean Adair Calvert who had two sons, Clifton and James, from a prior marriage. The family of six later moved to California. After high school Tommy joined the United States Marine Corp. in 1965, serving with distinction in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent (E-5) in 1971. While in Vietnam he was exposed to Agent Orange, which caused him many years of suffering and led to his death.
In 1968 he married Mary Ann Coyne. They had one child – a son, Shawn Patrick Webb. Following his discharge from the Marines, Tommy worked as a merchandiser for the 7UP/RC Bottling Company from 1969 to 2008. During this time, he was a proud member of Teamsters Local No 683. His routes encompassed many areas of San Diego County, in particular East County. He always had a smile for his customers and loved story telling with them. Some of his customers became his close friends and hunting buddies. A real man’s man, Tommy loved his God, his church, family, family gatherings, and hunting. He loved to prepare biscuits, gravy, and hot coffee for his hunting buddies. He also loved to entertain his friends at his home. He was famous for his bear hugs, big grin, laughter, and hospitality.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ann (Coyne) Webb (d. 2005), and his son, Shawn (1973-2011). He is survived by his second wife, Sam L. (Rice) Webb, his sister, Linda Ann (Webb) Vincent of Abilene, Kansas, his brother Clifton C. Calvert of Santee, California, his daughter-in-law, Christina M. Webb, two granddaughters, Courtney (Webb) Saunders, and Samantha Webb, two great-grandsons, Sunny Kai Saunders and Todd Oak Saunders, four nephews, two nieces, six great-nephews, five great-nieces, one great-great niece and one great-great nephew.
The memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church (9136 Riverside Drive Descanso CA) at 10:30 am on June 26, 2021. A reception will be held immediately after in the Parish Hall. A Rosary will be held at the Church on Friday June 25 at 7:00pm. Interment will be at a later date.
