Obituary for Thomas Markley Simpson

Thomas Markley Simpson was called home by the Lord, March 11, 2023. He was 73. He died
peacefully at home, with his family by his side. He is finally free of Parkinson’s disease.

He was born in Fresno, California, and had been living in Chula Vista for the past forty years. He
leaves behind his wife, Linda, and their two daughters, Rachel and Stephanie. Rachel’s family includes
her husband, Shane, and their two children Jake (7) and Norah (5). Stephanie’s family includes her
husband, Ian, and their newborn son, Rafael.

Tom worked as a middle school teacher in Dixon, CA for 3 years. He then became an ordained
Presbyterian minister and served in Bothell, WA. He was then called to develop a Spanish speaking
church in San Diego, CA. He pastored Iglesia Presbiteriana Hispana for 20 years. He then earned his
Phd and went on to become a Lead School Psychologist, working for the Chula Vista Elementary School
District for 12 years. He retired in 2014. Tom spent his life serving others.

Services for Tom will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. The service will be held at the First
Presbyterian Church, 500 Farragut Circle, in El Cajon. A reception will follow.
