On Monday, May 9, 2022, Thomas (Tommy) Jefferson Forsythe of Santee, CA, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 65.
Tommy was born on June 18,1956 in Connellsville, PA. He married Debbie Steiner in April 1980 and raised one daughter, Cindy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas, and his mother Eva. He is survived by his wife Debbie, daughter Cindy, his one and only grandchild, who, according to his words, was the bright spark in his heart and best part of his life: Joseph, brother Theodore (wife Kim), sisters: Terry (husband Ross) Weber, Tammy (husband Larry) Woodworth, Tina (husband Clay) Newsome and several aunts, one uncle, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He served in the Navy for 24 years and 6 months and retired as a Chief Operations Specialist Cruise Missle Instructor. After his retirement from the military, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until he retired in 2019 . Always smiling and laughing, he was known for his kindness and buying lottery tickets. He had a passion for helping people and would help anyone in a heartbeat. This was evident in his everyday life where he volunteered as a chaplain and survivors benefits officer at the American Legion Post 364 assisting veterans and their families prepare the paperwork to receive their benefits. He was a loving son, husband, grandfather, brother, friend and will be missed dearly.
Viewing will be held at East County Mortuary & Cremation Services, 374 Magnolia Ave., El Cajon, CA, 92020, Monday, May 16, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Interment with military honors will be at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, 9:00 a.m.
