Obituary for Ruben Alberto Medina

Ruben Alberto Medina, 45 years old, of El Cajon, CA, peacefully passed away on June 25,
2022, surrounded by his immediate family members.
Ruben was born on September 30, 1976, to Yolanda Rodriguez and Florencio Medina in
Brawley, CA.
After graduating from Central Union High School in 1994, he went on to study at Imperial Valley
College to begin his undergraduate coursework. Ruben received a Bachelor’s degree in
Sociology in 2002 from San Diego State University and a Master’s degree in Business
Administration in 2016 from Ashford University. Ruben worked in the Social Services field and
was passionate about his time at various agencies that helped youth and families throughout
San Diego County.
Ruben was known to all as a giving, caring, and selfless soul. He enjoyed rooting for the LA
Dodgers, his favorite baseball team. His loved ones remember his sense of humor, his love for
cooking, his love for music, his love for photography, his creativity, his singing abilities, and his
passion for restoring his 71’ Camaro.
Ruben was preceded in death by his Grandmother Aurora Pelayo-Gomez, Grandfather Teodoro

Gomez Jimenez, and his Tia Alma Delia Rodriguez Villegas.

Ruben met his wife, Valeria M. Medina, in 2016. Ruben and Valeria were married in October
2019 and made their home together in El Cajon. Deeply in love and inseparable, they enjoyed
spending time with friends and family and looked forward to a long and happy life together.
Ruben leaves behind his wife, Valeria M. Medina; his mother, Yolanda M. Rodriguez (Raul
Morado); his father, Florencio Medina; his brother, Eduardo “Lalo” (Lupita) Medina; his youngest
brother, Agustin Becerra; his oldest daughter, Angelica (Daniel) Leon; his son, Rickey T.
Medina; his youngest daughter, Zoey T. Medina; his in-laws, Ceazer and Linda Moore; his
nieces and his nephews, his aunts, his uncles, and his cousins.
Family and Friends are invited to attend Ruben’s Celebration of Life on Friday, July 29, 2022,
from 12-4 PM at Heartland Masonic Center at 695 Ballantyne St, El Cajon, Ca 92021.
The family respectfully requests that all guests consider taking a COVID-19 test before
attending Ruben’s Celebration of Life to ensure the safety of all attendees. The family
respectfully asks that attendees wear a mask during the celebration of life services.
The family will hold a private interment ceremony for Ruben in Brawley, Ca at a later date.
