Obituary for Rose Lee Kvaas

ROSE LEE CORY KVAAS, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully March 22, 2019, at the age of 88, at home in El Cajon, CA, in the company of family. Rose Lee was born in New Orleans, LA, September 8, 1930, and raised in Hemet, CA, during her formative years with father, Mitchel Cory, mother, Malvena, and her two sisters. She graduated from Bishops High School, La Jolla, CA, after which she attended the University of Southern California. While studying at USC, she fell in love with her then-future husband, Harold Kvaas. Following graduation from the university in 1951, they were married November that same year. They moved to Santa Monica, CA, and later, in 1955, to La Mesa, CA, where they built a home and raised their two children.Rose Lee enjoyed a life of adventures in world travel with Harold, the two of them visiting Africa, China, Europe, Australia, Mexico and destinations throughout the United States. She was also fulfilled by her involvement in philanthropic endeavors around San Diego County, holding influential positions on the boards of the Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, Makua; Thursday Club; Art Alive and various others. Rose Lee also loved to cook and her flower garden.She was preceded in death by her older sister, Margaret Lake. She is survived by sister, Carolyn Keiser; son, George Kvaas (Eva); daughter Kristin Lithopoulos; grandchildren, Jason, Philip, and Nicholas Lithopoulos, and Caroline and David Kvaas; numerous nieces, nephews, and two great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on April 4, 2019, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, La Mesa, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers, Inc.
