Pablo A. Maes, Jr. (Paul) passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021, at the age of 87 after battling Alzheimer’s. He was born on February 13, 1933, son of Pablo Maes, Sr. and Rosarito J. Maes (LaLa). Paul grew up in Tesuque New Mexico with his siblings Sophia Blea, Alicia Esquibel, and Anthony Maes. He attended Santa Fe High School and went into the Army after graduation. Paul was proud of serving his country and often talked about his time in Austria. He settled in San Diego, was married for 62 years, raised his five children, and retired after working with the Chesapeake Fish Company. Paul was known for his love of hunting, fishing, and bingo. He is survived by his wife Maria J. Maes (Lena), children Paul A. Maes (Lydia spouse), Steven Maes, Debra L. Gutierrez (Ramon spouse), Robert P. Maes, Frank Maes, John C. Maes (Alejandra Maes spouse). He also loved his grandchildren, Ramon Gutierrez Jr., Robert Maes, Natalie Ramirez, Melissa Wagner, Teena Marie Gutierrez, Brenda Maes, Matthew Gutierrez, Daniel Maes, John Maes Jr., Nicholas Maes, Angelica Maes as well as his ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
