Obituary for Michael David Kimball
Michael David Kimball passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2022 with his son and daughter by his side.
Michael was the youngest son of four children to George and Cecile Kimball. He attended Granite Hills High School in El Cajon. He was a devoted single dad for many years to his daughter Amy. He married his wife Kathryn and they welcomed their son Luke. Michael began his career as a plasterer until he was hired by The City of San Diego as a pump station operator. He worked for the city 23 years and in that time, created lifelong friendships that he valued immensely. He retired from the city and then made time to travel.
Michael was a man with many passions. He loved being a dad. Watching his children grow was one of his greatest joys. Michael was one to always seek new adventures and loved experiencing new cultures. His travels took him across the United States and then internationally to many parts of Southeast Asia and Colombia. Michael loved to cook, always inviting friends and family over for dinner. He was a lifelong sports fan, attending Padres and Chargers games regularly. He especially enjoyed riding dirt bikes with his son. Most recently he adopted a puppy named Ziva who quickly became another one of his pride and joy. She was by his side constantly and brought him happiness and companionship.
Michael is survived by his two children Luke and Amy, his son-in-law Robert and his 3 grandchildren Tyler, Ireland and Jacob. Preceded in death by his parents George and Cecile, his three siblings, Debbie, Ginny and Bob and his wife Kathryn Kimball.
Memorial service will be held at 10am on October 14, 2022 at East County Mortuary located at 374 N. Magnolia Ave, El Cajon, CA, 92020.
