Obituary for Mathieu Nasir Maroghi

On Thursday, September 19th, 2019, Mathieu Maroghi Hajjar, loving son, brother and godfather, was tragically taken from us at the young age of 20. Mathieu was born in Verdun, France on Friday, July 30th, 1999, to parents Yusra Jarbou and Nasir Maroghi. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic School from elementary through middle school. He then went on to attend Mater Dei Catholic High School, where he served as a member of the Crusaders football team and caring friend to many. He graduated from Valhalla High School in May of 2018. Following his studies, Mathieu began working diligently to provide for his family and carve a path of success for himself.

Mathieu had a passion for caring for those who he held dear in his heart. He had an exceptionally uplifting spirit and was determined to minimize the suffering of those surrounding him, despite his own pain and suffering. Mathieu honorably and tirelessly worked in order to ensure that his loved ones were well taken care of and safe. He enjoyed life to its fullest and was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

He is survived by his parents Yusra and Nasir; siblings Mina and Miguel; godson Nathan; as well as uncles, aunts, and cousins. Please take a moment to pray for the soul of our beloved, that he may be welcomed into heavenly glory; and also pray for his family, that God may comfort them and bring them peace during this difficult time. A funeral service will be held at St. Peter Chaldean Catholic Cathedral at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019 with burial following, at Holy Cross Cemetery. Luncheon service to follow at Golden Palace Hall until 6pm.
