Obituary for Leonard Thomas Owens

Leonard Thomas Owens, Sr., father of five, grandfather of nine, proud husband, beloved brother, and gracious uncle passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home in Alpine, CA.

Born on January 28th, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA to Thomas Owens and Hazel Calhoun, Leonard was the fourth of eight brothers and sisters: Carol A. Williams (Gregory), Larry Sanders (Bessie), Norma Owens, Nadine Taylor (Emerson), Anthony Sanders (Gwen), Gregory Sanders (Theresa) and Judy Newman. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Larry and Anthony, and his sisters Carol and Nadine.

Leonard will be dearly missed by his wife Lynn; his children Leonard Jr (Delisha), Christopher (Jessica), Adam, Luke (Krisha), and Jessica (Britt); his grandchildren Kuron, Dallas, Dakota, Leonard III, Cameron, Brandon, Jasmine, Lucius, and Elliane.

He lived for his family, his friends, his neighbors, and any stranger who needed a smile. Now we must live on for him.

FUNERAL SERVICES:

The Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 18th at 11:00 AM at East County Mortuary, 374 North Magnolia Avenue Ave. El Cajon, CA 92020. The Chapel can accommodate only 30 people at one time. Please arrive at 11:00 AM, and forgive us for any wait as we allow attendees to rotate in and out of the Chapel.

Graveside Services will follow at 1 PM at Singing Hills Memorial Park at 2800 Dehesa Rd, El Cajon, CA 92019. There is no limit on the number of attendees at the Graveside; please bring a chair if you will need a place to sit during this service.

Please send any flowers to East County Mortuary by 10 AM on the day of service.

To honor Leonard’s and our family’s wishes there will be no Repast at this time. The family hopes to host a Memorial Celebration for Leonard and all of our lost loved ones next year.
