Obituary for Kitty Freda Kingsley

Kitty Kingsley: Born 3-14-29 – Died 7-8-20
Kitty died on July 8th, 2020. She was 91 years old. She was the last survivor of 8 children of Maggie Bishop. She lived most of her early years in Bowlegs, Oklahoma. Moved to San Diego in her early 20s and remained there for the rest of her life. She is survived by her two children; Dennis Rymer, who resides in Santee, California and Deborah Velasco and her husband, German who reside in Los Angeles. She has 3 grandchildren; Erin Hall, Michael Devin Grimes, Morgan Gomez and 6 great-grandchildren.
Kitty was married to Bill Rymer for 25 years. During that time she was a home-maker, helped open a Baptist church in a bus with her husband and remained active in church throughout her life. For many years she held Bible Study meetings at her home with her Skyline Methodist Church group. Kitty also volunteered throughout the 70s with the ‘Flying Sam’s (Samaritan’s). They would collect donated medications and medical supplies, and then caravan to Mexico to supply mobile health care every month. Kitty married Karl Kingsley in 1979 and they were together 11 years, enjoying square dancing and traveling during that time. She was in the TOPPs weight program for at least the last 15 years – and although she did not lose a lot of weight, she loved to go to dinner with her friends from there each week after their meetings. She also exercised with her Aqua Swim Group every week at Scripts Hospital and also volunteered several times a week making flower arrangements for the patients there. Flower arranging, gardening, arts and crafts, camping and providing help whenever needed for her grandchildren – filled her life with joy. She often made trips to Los Angeles to help her daughter, Deborah with her children. All of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren will sorely miss their ‘Nanie’. She cared for her aging Mother (Maggie) for Maggie’s last 20 years – dying at 103. She also lived and shared her mobile home in Santee for the last 20 years with her brother, Sonny Bishop, who passed on 2 years ago. She will also be missed by her loving caregivers – Jeanette, Candace and Desiree who provided her with care and loving attention.
Memorial services will be postponed until it is safe to gather after the Corona Virus quarantine is lifted. Until then her family has gathered in her home in Santee - reminiscing about times together throughout the years.
If you would like to make a donation in her name she would have loved a tree to be planted in her name. The mortuary has posted the details for this type of donation.
