Jo-Ann was born on July 22,1940 to Louis and Yolanda Cappello in San Diego, CA and she was proud to say she was a native San Diegan. Jo-Ann remained best friends with many of her classmates.

Jo-Ann made several friends throughout her service with the Linda Vista Community Association. Jo-Ann prided herself in serving her community throughout her life, even presiding over the 28th Annual Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair and Parade as the Grand Marshal. She cared deeply about preserving her community, caring for the community members, and keeping the San Diego spirit alive.

With glee, Jo-Ann did not miss an opportunity to brag about her children and grandchildren's accomplishments. She instilled a deep sense of family devotion in each one of them in making sure they understood the importance of family. Her family remembers her fondly for her strength and tenacity, especially in the final stages of her life.

Cappello; four children: Joseph Carini, Christopher Carini, Louis Carini and Marialena Tarantino (Matteo Bono); grandchildren: Louis and Joette Carini, and Giovan (Nicole) Tarantino and Margherita (Mario) Goro; and her three great-grandchildren: Arianna Carini, Mario Goro II and Antonio Tarantino.
