Silva in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico.

In 1963, Mina met the love of her life, Jesus (“Jess/Chuy”) in Tecate – it was love at first sight. Mina
and Jess moved to San Diego, California, after they married in September of 1965. They raised four
beautiful children: Ben, Gaby, Diana and Leah.

Mina was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was so very dedicated to her
family and loved her faith. She was Pope John Paul II’s biggest fan. She rooted for her beloved Padres
any chance she could. She was always gentle and truthful with her sage advice and her sense of humor
was beyond compare. She always made her doctors, nurses and medical staff laugh and they all loved
her. She had the sweetest smile and an infectious laugh. She always had a kind word for everyone and
loved with a full heart.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jess, her son Ben, his wife Christine and children, Jacob, Joey
and Maria; her daughter Gabriella Peñaloza and her husband Gabriel; her daughter Diana Burrows
