Obituary for Guadalupe ""Lupe"" Aldrich

Guadalupe “Lupe” Jordan Aldrich was born April 11, 1937 and grew up in Southeast San Diego. She was the third child to Essey and Marie Ruiz. Lupe graduated from Cathedral Catholic All Girls High School in San Diego. She had plans of entering the convent but instead married her husband Fred Aldrich at the age of 19. She worked as a secretary at Mercy Hospital San Diego and was a volunteer in the nursery. She was a homemaker and later worked as a medical office manager. She was a beloved sister to Johnny and Connie Ruiz and Steve and Dolly Abeyta. While her sister was known as “Dolly”, she was affectionately known by her family as “Baby”. She was a devout Catholic and was the secretary of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Kieran’s Church in El Cajon. She loved cleaning the church, helping at the food pantry, taking communion to a senior citizen home and cooking for the church soup dinners. She loved her parents, her Nana, tamales, the chicken pie shop, Willy Nelson, Elvis, any kind of candy, balloons and the colors pink, purple and black. Everyone loved her famous Spanish rice and she loved all of her animals especially her doggies!

She is survived by her children Marie Aldrich, Dana and Sherrie Aldrich, Diana Aldrich-Daniels, Richard Aldrich, Her grandchildren, Eric Sprague, Ryan Sprague, Nicole Baca, Dr. Julie Aldrich-Puzzo, Elaine Twomey, Makayla Aldrich, Kristen Aldrich, Tawnya Shy, Maci Aldrich as well as eight great grandchildren.

A viewing and rosary will be held at the East County Mortuary September 9th from 3-7pm.
A funeral mass will be held September 10th at St. Kieran’s Catholic Church in El Cajon at 10am with internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego. A reception will be held at Singing Hills Golf Resort at 2PM following Graveside Service.
