Obituary for Emma Earlene Nuzzo

On July 28 2021 in the early morning, Emma Earlene Brokaw Nuzzo of Santee, CA passed away at the age of 82.

Emma Earlene Brokaw Nuzzo was born in Batesville, AR on November 27, 1938. She was the second child and only daughter to Mary Emma Brokaw and Earl Conway Brokaw.

She and her family moved to Bell Gardens, CA where she attended high school with her elder brother Norman.

She married her husband William on December 28, 1957 in Los Angeles, California. They were married for 52 years and had 3 children. She worked as a legal secretary for many companies such as Crown Zellerbach, North American Rockwell International, General Dynamics, Cable Car Candy, Straw Hat Pizza and Orbitran to name a few. (And, yes she did in fact work for NASA, much to the shock of everyone she told.) She met the astronauts who piloted Apollo 11 and was thrilled to be photographed next to the spacecraft they inhabited during their mission. She had been given a secret clearance and was able to read basic blueprints. She was a very good and detailed employee that was highly commended for her work.

In addition to being a full time employee, she was also devoted wife and mother of 3 children. She made juggling the busy and hectic family life of 5 look very easy.

She was a pioneer and matriarch of the Nuzzo family. She had many hobbies and talents. She was an amazing artist, a gifted cook, a brilliant gardener, and an imaginative photog. She loved her church more than anything. She loved God and our lord and savior Jesus Christ. She often spoke of her golden memories with her family as a child. She loved her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Anthony Nuzzo, her mother Mary Emma Brokaw and father Earl Conway Brokaw.

Emma Earlene Brokaw Nuzzo is survived by her brother Norman Brokaw of Chino Hills, CA, her daughter Carol Nuzzo Gray of Lakeside, CA, her twin sons Ronald Nuzzo of Santee, CA and James Nuzzo of Lawrenceburg, TN and her 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
