Obituary for Douglas Craig Northington

Dear Family and Friends,

We are heartbroken to share with you that Thursday, March 23rd, our dear son Douglas Craig passed away.

Many of you that knew Douglas also journeyed with us as he struggled with mental illness. He never lost his courage or hope and continued to seek help from doctors, medical professionals, treatment plans, prayers for healing, and so on.

Despite his own difficulties, his kindness and compassion for others stayed strong. Countless times, this would lead him to giving the shirt off his back or the shoes off his feet (as we have bought many new shoes when he’d come home barefoot) to someone else in need.

He would always say or do something silly to make you laugh, even when the days were difficult. His laugh was so infectious that it was easy to find joy around him. The difficult days were especially hard because all we ever wanted was for him to be happy and for this life to finally be in his favor.

Despite his struggles, it was cardiac arrest that took his life. We mourn his passing deeply and will miss him dearly. We will never be the same, but take peace in knowing that he is at rest.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and portion forever.” - Psalm 73:26

His struggles were just one part of his life. He was so much more. He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle to his sisters’ children whom he loved and cared for so much. He was a friend. He will be forever loved and missed until we meet again in heaven.

We are grateful for your love and support for our family during this devastating time and will share details of the funeral arrangements / celebration of life, as they are finalized.

We welcome your thoughts and prayers for our family including Crystal and Rod, and Ashley and Alex, as we cherish the many memories we have of Douglas.
