On Sunday, March 14, 2021, Donald T. Lumb II, loving husband and father passed away at age 50.
Don was born on February 11, 1971 in Michigan to Theresa Richardson and Donald Lumb Sr. As a teenager, Don became a sheriff explorer and after high school he enlisted in the Army where joined the Military Police Corp. When he came home and joined the Army National Guard, he simultaneously joined the Chula Vista Police Department where he eventually became a K9 Officer. Don spent his entire adult life in law enforcement in one arena or another and he loved every minute of it. Don would always be the first to help someone that needed it.
Don only had a few passions, but those few meant the world to him. He loved long weekends at the river and holidays at the desert with family and friends. If you knew Don, you knew he had a quick wit and his sarcasm was top notch. If he cared about you, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for you. He had a goofy spirit about him that just made people laugh.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Don Sr. He is survived by his wife, Patty, his children, Madison, Mason and Chance. His brother, Tony and his mother, Theresa. There are several Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at East County Mortuary Chapel located at 374 N. Magnolia Ave. El Cajon, Ca, 92020 from 3pm to 7pm. An Army color guard will be presenting honors at 7pm.
In leu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project in Dons honor. Helping his brothers in arms was a cause he held dear.

As Don entered this world on February 11, 1971 he immediate spread his wings bringing love to all around him including his Dad Don and his Mom Theresa. Through his life he showered those around him with love, understanding, caring and wisdom. Don devoted his life to his family including his children Madisen, Mason and Chance and his lovely wife, Patty. Don used those wings he spread out upon his birth to carry him in serving his country and his fellow man. At a young age Don served as a Sheriff Explorer, Honorably served in the Army and Army Reserve, Served as Chula Vista Police Officer, supported the Wounded Warriors Project, supported the VFW and in the last few years of his life served his community through the Alpine Kiwanis Club. At the time of his death Don was serving as President of the Alpine Kiwanis Club, yes he spread his wings throughout his community and world in service to his fellow man. Don will be truly missed for he was a gentle giant in a community that loved him and the wonderful memories that Don created will live on within each of us. May those wonderful memories comfort his family and friends during these times of sadness.
Don now spreads his wings to make his final journey to cross the Gates of Heaven and to take his place in heaven. Don will always be showering us with blessing from his place in heaven, still serving his world. In time may God heal some of the sadness that his family and friends feel at this moment. May Don’s wonderful laughter and kindness be seen in every blooming flower. RIP FRIEND
