Life Story for Diane Williamson

It is with profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Diane Patricia
Williamson in El Cajon, CA on September 7, 2019, at the age of 56.

Diane was born on November 10, 1962 in Napa, CA. She attended St. Apollinaris and graduated from Justin-Siena High School in 1980. She followed her vision to study journalism by graduating from San Diego State University in 1984 with degrees in journalism and political science.

Diane was passionate, intelligent, and curious. She was a voracious reader, and a talented writer, and worked a second job at a bookstore to be close to her hobby. As a young adult, she enjoyed traveling to several different countries. Next as a regional manager for Travelodge Motels, she traveled around much of the U.S. where she especially loved visiting the National Parks. Diane later spent 20 years with WIS International as a technical writer, and was adored by so many of her co-workers as a principal organizer of special events and parties for every holiday imaginable!

Diane had an incredible baseball IQ. She was a lifelong SF Giants’ fan who loved Willie Mays, but created a big place in her heart for the Padres when she moved to San Diego. She attended countless games at “The Murph” and Petco Park, including every home opener since she arrived in San Diego until 2019. The highlight of her baseball life was travelling to Cooperstown (for the 2nd time) to see Tony Gwynn inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007. She loved a good political discussion, getting together with family and friends, and anything to do with any holiday!

In 1990, she married Barry Williamson, and they had two wonderful daughters, Katherine Helen Williamson and Anna Clare Williamson. They spent many memorable years raising the girls, enjoying soccer, volleyball, cross country and swimming, participating in Girl Scouts, camping with friends in Yosemite, and visiting family in Napa. Diane’s daughters were an endless source of happiness and pride for her. She imparted to them her love of learning, music, and travel that will live forever. Diane was a long time member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Donohoe. She is survived by her father, Kevin Donohoe, the father of her children, Barry Williamson, daughters Katherine Helen Williamson and Anna Clare Williamson, Uncle Bruce Wilson, brother Thomas Donohoe (Aline), sister Margaret Donohue, nephew Kevin Donohoe, and niece Briana Clear (Adam). She will be forever remembered by numerous extended family and friends.

We will all miss her quick wit, infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Donations can be made in her name to the San Diego Zoo.
