Obituary for Charles Jefferson Lehew

Charles Jefferson ("Jeff") Lehew, 81, native East County San Diego resident passed away at his home under the gentle care of hospice on 9/22/21 on the Autumn Equinox.

The son of Charles Lehew and Lucille (Penick) Lehew was born on August 28, 1940 and was raised in La Mesa, California. He had an older brother, Clark Lehew. As a young child Jeff would take the ferry to Coronado for his piano lessons, which he fondly remembered and spoke about often.

He was a graduate of Helix High School, attended Grossmont College and joined the Army where he honorably served for three years and became a Sergeant. He worked as a supervisor in management in most of his career into his 70's.

He married Marion Leopold in Los Angeles and they had two children. Wendy (now Hallsted) and Brian Lehew. He has a third child, Thomas Lehew, with his second wife Ada ("Irene") Lehew. Wendy has two children, Krista (now McClelland) and Michael Pendleton, his grandchildren.

He enjoyed classic rock, classic cars, motorcycles and building model railroads. He was a creative artist and mechanic. He could build or fix anything from model cars to the cars and motorcycles he drove. He also enjoyed painting and drawing. He was very talented.

He was a true gentleman. He was kind, quiet, good mannered, even tempered, easy going, humble, genuine and simple. He will be greatly missed.

The funeral service and burial will be at Miramar National Cemetery.
