Obituary for Aaron Wilson Marshall

The leap year of 1972 was the longest year ever recorded, an event that has not since been repeated– but the truly special event that happened in 1972 occurred on May 4th, when Aaron Wilson Marshall was born into this world. Just like his one-of-a-kind birth year, Aaron had a rare spirit unto himself. On April 2nd 2022, after a brave and lengthy battle with his health, Aaron passed away peacefully at the young age of 49. His absence is felt deeply by all who knew him, from his closest family to his farthest acquaintances.

Aaron had a passion and love for life that was only surpassed by his love for those who shared his life beside him. As he made his way through the world, his journey led him to the love of his life, his wife of 29 years, Brandy. Even before they met, Aaron and Brandy orbited around each other with their mutual friends as they attended the same high school. They did not meet until after their graduation, but once they met, it was clear they were destined for each other. Their love story brought Aaron his son, Cameron, and his granddaughter Callie, who he loved with every fiber of his being.

Their connection brought Aaron’s massive, loud, and wild family to ever greater heights and happiness. His family began with his mother Carol, her husband Buck who loved Aaron like a son, and Aaron’s four siblings; his sisters Kelly and Jill, and his brothers Adam and Robert. On the day he departed, he had 14 nieces and nephews, one grand-niece and one grand-nephew, many cousins, and enough in-laws to give anyone pause. His family was filled with fights, flaws, and above all else, a remarkable amount of love. He was regarded by many as “everyone’s favorite” for his compassion, humor, and the way his presence filled any room even at his quietest.

Ever since childhood, Aaron had a love of everything that goes “BOOM!” From fireworks, to watching Mythbusters detonations, to the explosive laughter of his family. He was a kid at heart, and always had twinkles in his eyes. His bright spirit went perfectly hand in hand with his love of children, and led him to having lifelong connections with his nieces and nephews, who could always count on him to join in on their games during family gatherings.

Aaron also had a love of nature and the outdoors, which took him on many adventures with his family as they traveled far and wide, making a wealth of memories. One of his grandest adventures was the home he, his wife, son, and granddaughter took on to turn into a ranch. Together, they filled the property with chickens, and an ever-increasing number of goats. Aaron dreamed of building a barn, and bringing even more animals into their family, including horses and an alpaca. They had no need for a mule, as Aaron was as stubborn as one himself– no matter his circumstances, he happily drove his tractor and tirelessly worked with his bare hands to create a beautiful home and legacy for his family.

As he embraced ranch life, his secretly harbored love of country music began to come out, to the surprise of some family members, and the knowing winks of others. His inner light continued to shine even brighter as he found himself within his natural element. His family will keep his light shining, and intend to build their home with his dreams in their minds and hearts.

Knowing Aaron has shaped us into the people we are, and his memory will forge us into the people we will become through every step of the rest of our lives.

** In accordance with his wishes, Aaron will not have a funeral. Instead, a Celebration of Life – Location, Date and Time are To Be Determined, as we would like to have time to prepare a proper celebration!
